Set amidst orchards, with views over the beautiful Weald, where woods, green fields and orchards flourish as they have for centuries. Where ever your interests lie, the garden of England will not disappoint you. Numerous National Trust properties, beautiful walks and Pooh Bear country with the quaint Pooh Sticks Bridge (yes, it really does exist) near the Hundred Aker wood in Ashdown Forest. So many places to visit, either by car, local bus, or on foot for the more energetic. The old market town of Tonbridge, with its’ castle, and river boat rides, is one and a half miles north, whilst the historic Royal Spa town of Tunbridge Wells lies four miles south.
Apple Acres is a four acre site with just ten pitches, apple orchards to the north and south sides, plum orchards to the east and meadow to the west, where, if you are early risers, car boot sales (featured twice on T.V.) are held on occasional Sundays in summer. Don’t worry if you are not early risers, you shouldn’t be disturbed.
The site is very peaceful and un-cluttered. Robert and his wife, Bernie, acquired the land in 2000 and work to keep it as nature intended. There are toilets, showers and a pot wash area .
Wildlife including deer are often seen roaming the adjacent woods in the early evening. Over two days, over thirty different birds were sighted, from wrens and tits to woodpeckers, herons, owls and, very unusually, a buzzard.
On fine summer evenings, hot air balloons drift lazily overhead and disappear over the trees, they have been know to land in adjacent fields.
You will find acres of land to walk your dog, and picnicking could never be more pleasant. Free range eggs are normally for sale from the now retired farmer, and please help yourself to apples!
A very pleasing pub serving real ales and very good food is a fifteen minute walk away.( Eighteen minutes on the way back!)
For those less energetic, even to BBQ, the local Chinese takeaway delivers to the site. Banks, shops and supermarkets are all within a ten minute drive, with taxis readily available. The local bus service stops five minutes away.
In short: Peace and quiet with everything at hand.
Just a few dos and don'ts please;- No ball games on site. Clear up after your dog and keep him on a lead on site. Don’t let your music or other activities disturb others. Respect the countryside.
We look forward to meeting you, ROBERT and BERNIE
